No AI, No FPI? Why Foreign Investors Are Pulling Out Of Indian Markets
23-03-2026
Sameer Jain, Managing Director, Primus Partners, said India must scale its AI data centre capacity from 5 GW to 15–20 GW by 2030, requiring significant investment, with AI data centres costing $6–8 billion and semiconductor fabs $9–10 billion. He noted infrastructure gaps compared to countries like Korea and Taiwan, along with a 350,000 skilled workforce shortage. He added that while AI is a major opportunity for India, scaling capacity and enabling companies with access to demand and capital is critical, with FPI investments likely to follow.
