International E-Waste Day: Where does India stand?

Ramakrishnan M, Managing Director, Primus Partners,highlighted India's strengthened e-waste management policies, particularly the e-Waste (Management) Rules of 2022, which emphasize hazardous substance restrictions, recycling targets, and producer accountability. He emphasized the need for transparency in the reverse supply chain and proposed an Electronic Upgradation Policy to ensure manufacturers take responsibility for product upgrades. He also called for sustainable infrastructure and advanced technologies for metal extraction, advocating a combined approach involving both informal and organized sectors to tackle the e-waste crisis.
